Jumanji Comes to Agincourt Mall

The still night is suddenly filled with the primeval sounds of the jungle as four friends are racing against time to retrieve a magic jewel and return it to a holy shrine. As the tension mounts, the audience gasps at the sight of superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It’s the screening of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle at the Canada Day Night Market at Agincourt Mall.

The 3-day festival kicked off on June 29 with opening ceremonies and speeches by MP for Scarborough Agincourt Jean Yip, Councillor Norm Kelly, Councillor Jim Karygiannis, and Property Manager of Agincourt Mall, Stephano Lee. June 30, the second day of the festival, featured the Movie Under the Stars program, where an enthusiastic crowd of over 300 gathered on the Mall grounds to watch the Jumanji movie. Judging from the excited sounds from the crowd, it was a huge success!

The last night of the festival, July 1, was themed Sing with the Stars. It kicked off with singing performances by local students from Jerrson Wu’s Contemporary Studio from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Then there were special performances by three well-known Hong Kong artists from 8:00pm – 9:00pm, followed by autograph signing. The night ended with the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to all sponsors.

The 3-day festival was a great hit with the local community which turned out in great numbers to enjoy the musical performances, the food stalls, the kids zone, bouncy castle and more.

This is the community spirit that will be key to North American Development Group’s visionary plan to reimagine and reinvent Agincourt Mall into a vibrant, mixed use community with retail, culture, leisure and multi-generational residential components.
